I have a large window consisting of 4 casement windows which totals 112" width. I have white sheers with a burgundy valance. The problem is that it's too bright during the day and suns blinds you if you're on the couch. I'm looking for ideas on a room darkener window treatment that would look good as well as darkening the room when needed. I thought about a scalloped room darkener shade but I can't seem to find one big enough.

Because of the size of your window, and your specific need, you might try a room-darkening shade. If you like the look of sheers, you can get sheers with room darkening vanes that offer additional light blockage beyond what a typical sheer would provide.

You might try horizontal window shadings with room darkening vanes. One example of this can be found at: http://www.blindcrafter.com/shadings/Moonlight/moonlight.cfm

or try drapery sheers, which have the soft look of the drape that you might like, but you can get room-darkening vanes to block the sun. One example of this can be seen at:

Either way, you definitely have options for increaing the amount of control you have over the light in your rooms.

Get faux wood blinds. They are fantastic and you can have them cut to any size you need. Go to your home depot, lowes, any hardware store you have near you and buy the biggest size and have them cut. I had the same problem. They allow lots of light through when there open ( not like conventional blinds) and they will block the sunlight when you want them too. They are stylish also.

You would probably have to special order what you are looking for. Your window is an odd size. Just about anything I can think of, other than using the stuff they use on car windows, you will have to special order. Good Luck.

If you have 4 sections you would be able to control the blinds.
