So its Illegal if you Sell the music but legal if u just hav it aimlessly liyin on ur computer

No limewire is legal, downloading copyrighted material from limewire (or anywhere else) is illegal. Limwire only provides the P2P software to share files, what people choose to share is up to them, but sharing songs and movies is against the law

Limewire itself is not illegal but it is possible to download illegal copies of files within it. Please read the court rulings below.
Legal issues
According to a June 28, 2005, report in The New York Times, Lime Wire LLC was considering ceasing distribution LimeWire due to the outcome of MGM v. Grokster.[4] On September 25, 2005, it was reported that Lime Wire LLC was working on a version of the program which will refuse to share files that lack valid license information.[5] Neither of these events occurred, and as of January 2007, it is still possible to download LimeWire and share copyrighted files.
On August 4, 2006, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) sued LimeWire, alleging that it was profiting from unauthorized downloads.[6] On September 25, 2006 LimeWire countersued the RIAA for antitrust violations.[7]
On May 12, 2006, the BBC reported that "Limewire" and "Lime wire" were among search terms likely to return links to malware from an Internet search engine.[8]

Technically it is not because there is an agreement that you say you agree to. You can not use the program without the agreemtent. The agreement states that you will not use limewire for copyright infringement. Therefore, you break your contract by using Limewire to download songs illegally but Limewire is not responsible because they put that there.

Limewire is not illegal but downloading certian stuff such as moveis and music is very much illegal. Limewire is a filesharing program so you can share files with other people around the world and it was not ment for downloading illegal stuff and it can be tracked so plz be careful.

The program itself is legal as when you download it you agree that you will not share copyrighted material. It becomes illegal when you start sharing such files eg: Music, Movies etc.

The software isn't. Downloading the songs is though. The default number of files is set to 1000, and this is what the feds look for. It means you have 1000 files to share with other people. Set it to zero and turn file sharing to OFF.

The software itself is legal....only the practice of downloading or sharing copyright material is illegal.

limewire IS LEGAL. downloading copyrighted files from someone else on limewire is ILLEGAL
