The egg did. Dinosaurs were laying eggs long before chickens were even around.

If the egg came first then the chicken came second and if the chicken came first then the egg came second.

The egg. Whatever animal evolved to become a chicken (let's call it a pre-chicken) laid an egg at some point in history, and that egg hatched and grew into a chicken. So the egg came first. Everyone assumes the chicken egg was laid by a chicken, but this is false. In this case it was laid by a pre-chicken.

(i am assuming that by saying "egg" you are referring to chicken eggs. if you aren't, eggs came even earlier, when dinosaurs were laying them.)

if you follow evolution, you see that the egg comes in way before the modern chick..
if you mean hypothetically which came first. I am going with the chicken. Cause it could lay many eggs. If you only had one egg to begin with, who would the poor thing mate with later on?

The egg came first because it needed a chicken to make an egg, but there again, you need a chicken to lay an egg, but there again, you need an egg to hatch to get a chicken...

The chicken morphed from a duck in my opinion.

actually, the statement that chicken hatches from egg isn't always true. firstly on earth, there were small molecules, which in turn combined to give macromolecules, finally cells and then multicellular organisms.
from whatever organism the chicken came, the organism came first and not the chicken egg. So, chicken came first.
