it depends on if you're traveling on an international or domestic flight. It's best to check with the airline you'll be flying on just to make sure.

What you carry on airlines hasnt changed. What you can bring through security has in someays. In general you can bring anything you once did through, but if you are bringing liquids through security they have to be 3 ounces or less and have to be in a clear ziplocked bag.

Currently right now the emphasis seems to be on liquids and gels. As far as what you can carry on the aircraft with you I would suggest that you viist the TSA website http://www.tsa.gov/ they have the complete list of what you can and can not bring on the aircraft as they are the organization that sets they regulations.

For your check-in baggage: NO DANGEROUS GOODS (see flaps of your airline ticket for details)
For your hand-carry: DEPENDS ON YOUR DESTINATION
If you're bound to US/Canada/UK/Europe (for hand-carry): No liquid; gel-type substances like lip gloss, toothpaste, ointments, and the likes; no cords or hairstyling mechanisms (blowdryer, straightener, curlers); moisturizers, sharp objects.
For details on this, please check on your respective airline prior to travel.
