I felt sooo out of place when I went to Europe. People dress very elegantly in the city and people are mostly thin. They seem a little perfect. What's your opinion?

There are some cultural differences relating to eg diet and what people wear, but by and large I'd say Europeans and Americans are pretty similar. No need to feel intimidated, they're pretty much just like you.

Edit: To the 'budding author' below me, I'm an Italian who's lived in the UK as well as having visited the USA, France, Germany, and other European countries numerous times. Despite the language factor I actually find Americans feel less "foreign" to me than anyone from the British Isles. I respect the Scots, but as for them being any more "perfect" than Italians or Americans, all I have to say to that is "hahahaha!" So there :p

I've been to most parts of Europe, I'm from Scotland, Ive also worked with Americans in many parts of the world.
The main difference (to my mind ) is that I feel that people from Europe, French, Germans, Italians etc etc are' foreign' !
Even though the USA is far far away, I have more in common with Americans than I ever had with any European people.
I'm not sure where you get this 'thin' bit from? We have real fatties all over Europe esp' Germans!
Very elegant? You didn't really get around much did you? And a little perfect?
Without wishing to appear biased, the only 'perfect' people in Europe are from Scotland, there are a few in Wales and Ireland, apart from that its all bluff and BS.
Why you choose to pick out Italians, I don't know, but last time I was there they were 'slurping' great fork fulls of spaghetti over all within a 100 yard range as well as all over themselves!
There is no reason on earth why you shoud feel out of place, where ever you go, I am proud to be a Scot, I can hold my head high , you are American the same applies.( I cant say the same about the English)!!
