I might be wrong, but I believe all metal sets of metal detectors. It is a matter of how much of a type of metal is needed before the metal detector is set off.

Most metals set off metal detectors (coins, belt buckles, metal in shoes, etc) and depending on where the detector is it is hard to predict what will be set off by that specific detector.

Why not just keep your metal in your bag that doesn't go through the detector or keep it in your bag you check in?

If you must keep the metal on you (metal orthopedics or such) you can usually get your doctor to give you a card to explain the situation to security personnel.

From my experience, piercings do not set off alarms.

LOL, I think that would be a security breach if they gave out that kind of information.

Odds are if you think its going to set it off, it will. Most metal objects that are bigger then 1 or 2 inches are going to set it off.

You don't really think that's public information, do you?
