Anything you'd like really! Besides 2 lg. cans of tuna and 1- 12 oz. bag of shell noodles, in mine I use: 4 oz. cream cheese, 6 oz. sour cream, 1/4 cup fresh parmesan, 1/2 cup shredded cheddar, 1 sm. box fozen baby peas, 1 med. white onion-diced, 1/2 cup milk, & 4 tbsp. melted butter. I cook noodles, halfway drain tuna, mix all that together and then transfer it to a greased baking dish. Then I slice 1 lg. tomato and arrange slices over casserole. Then I top the tomatos with another 1/2 cup shredded cheddar and sprinkle another 1/4 cup parmesan over that and bake uncovered @ 325* until center of casserole 145* - 160*, about 30 mins.

A blast from the 1970s!

My mom made this dish whenever it was the Thursday night before Payday (we'd be broke by then, so it's a very inexpensive meal!).

I remember cans of tuna, cream of mushroom soup, noodles and peas. Topped off with crunched up potato chips.

Wow...what memories your question brought back!

That depends, everyone I know makes it different. I make it with egg noodles, cream of mushroom soup, tuna, and either peas, green beans, or a veggie mix. And sometimes I make it with rice instead of noodles. But my husband doesn't like tuna so I put hamburger in it and call it stroganoff.

Everyone makes it different. I make mine with egg noodles, caned tuna, cream of mushroom soup, and peas. I mix them all together and put them in a baking dish and cover with cheese.
