I have been invited to a chili supper with some co-workers. The person who invited and hosting us is making the chili. One person is bringing a relish plate, another is bringing drinks, another is bringing cheese and crackers. I have been asked to bring something for dessert.
Does anyone have any suggestions of what kind of dessert might be a good complement for chili?

Warn apple pie to be served with either vanilla ice cream or cheddar cheese left over from the cheese platter. People who don't like pie can have ice cream (so maybe bring some chocolate sauce as well). Personally after chili there's nothing I like better than warn apple pie with a slab of sharp cheddar cheese.

Depends on how your chili tastes... what kind is it? 5-alarm, burn-both-ends, super-crazy-hot chili definitely needs something cool, calm, and soothing- French Vanilla ice cream... Mild sweet chicken chili.. you can be a little more imaginative. Maybe try something with fruit or cinnamon.

The best I have had is pineapple. Yep, just plain ole' pineapple. Sliced, or in small pieces.

If that is too simple or plain, add some grated cheddar cheese and a dollop of mayo on top.

Ice cream. Get plain vanilla and several toppings. It's the only way to go.

cheescake is always welcomed! Plus it will mellow out the spices of the chili! Maybe bring one plain and one raspberry or chocolate. mmm, my mouth is watering!

This is a very easy recipe that I invented and everyone LOVES it and always requests it. I haven't yet named it.

Package of raw crescent rolls (pillsbury or something like that)
1 block of cream cheese
1 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract
1 C granulated sugar
1 egg

Unroll the crescent rolls and pinch all ends together to form a rectangle on an ungreased cookie sheet(baking stones work best) Beat cream cheese, vanilla, egg and sugar until smooth(no lumps, make sure you scrape the bowl to get stuff off the bottom) Spread mixture over the dough leaving a small edge on all sides.
Bake at 350 for about 20-25 min or just until it starts to brown(dont let it brown, take it out right before)
While still hot sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar evenly and cut into little squares or diamonds. you can serve warm but they are best at room temp. store in fridge.

they have a cheesecake kind of taste and they are sooo good. they are perfect for potlucks(are always gone right away) my fiance and his friends started calling them "ooh wees" as in "ooh wee those are good!"

What about making brownies and adding some cayenne pepper to them? They are really good.
