Plants don't breathe but they absorb oxygen through their Stoma, pore like structures. In aquatic plants these would just absorb water, so in marsh plants and similar where they are not continually in water the stoma close. Plants that are permenantly underwater don't have this problem as they can absorb oxygen straight from the water.

The plants draw the dissolved oxygen from the water and release carbon dioxide. Here is a link that will provide more information on plant respiration and other plant biology.

Wrong Plants do not take in oxygen ,they need CO2. in the presence of sunlight the plants keep the C and give us and the fish back O2.
