I agree with the previous answer: There is NOTHING healthy about inhaling welding fumes. Many shops I've been to have the "don't be a baby" attitude about it, and make little if no effort to evacuate the smoke, let alone inform their workers of the hazzards associated with it.

Go to osha.gov, and go to the welding & brazing section. You'll find lots of info. And, if you're a weldor, also be aware of the effects of metal dust, which is another common, but overlooked risk associated with metalworking.
