Walter Smith has offically quit Scotland to manage Rangers. Frankly, I am glad. He was over hyped as a manager when in charge of the national team. In the Euro qualifiying stages we beat the two lower seeded teams then played 10 men behind the ball against France and Ukraine. France we got lucky, very lucky, and Ukraine found us out pretty quickly.

I think WS knew this and didn't want to hang around for the tough games coming up. I think he will be a flop at Rangers and be booted out by the end of next season.

Well, that is my mini rant. What are you views?

Shayne - Walter never won 9 he won 7 so get it right if you are going to patronise. Also, if I was a 9 in a row winning manager why would I contact you?

Walter only had a yr or so left he made a move which is more money for him and a longer contract so he wont be unemployed.. And nobody in the sfa offered walter a new contract after the vast improvment in the scotland team.. And who cares if he played like that against france we won thats all that matters. If berti was incharge he would have lost every game so far we beat the faros 6-0 under berti we drew 2-2 each enough said.. and how many ppl in a job would want more job security and more money almost any1 would move for that ... And for ur point if he does get the boot he gets a very gd pay of so gd move for him

I'm gutted. Walter was the only decent manager Scotland have had since Andy Roxburgh and he brought a sense of pride back to the team that had been missing for a long time. I also think he's making a big mistake going back to Rangers. He was so successful there and the retard Rangers fans will be expecting the same when he returns. If they don't win the next 5 championships in a row he'll be considered a failure this time round. Too much pressure.

Who cares. Scotland is better than one man with an ego.

Bottom line, if Rangers fail under Walter Smith and Ally McCoist then the fans and board will be out ideas.

the "dream" ticket could become a nightmare.

If Rangers get rid of Smith and McCoist in a few years then they may well go out of business as a club.

How many years can they afford to buy decent players and not win anything.

How many times will Rangers build a team around players who only want a move to England?... Remember "Die hard" Barry Ferguson?

I doubt they could afford to buy players like Gazza, Butcher and Laudrup again.

The standard at Ibrox as gone. Players are bought simply because Celtic don't want them.

I'm not a Celtic man but I think that much is plain to see.

This is the beginning of the end for Rangers and the old firm derby.

When you get to Walter Smith's age, what you are really concerned about is how much money you have in the bank and not the Glory of being The Manager of Scotland's Football team Don't deride the guy for doing something others would also do. It does not mean he is a traitor to his beloved Scotland...he is just looking after his own whilst he can. And with a team that means the world to him.

Welcome Home ....Welcome come on in and know the score.

Anyway he's Scots so say no more....

W S has always been a shrewd manager although his european tactics left alot to the imagination,
The one thing he has got is bals and this is what we are missing badly right now.
The team might not win lots of games but i can gaurantee you they will go down fighting..
not like italians running from the trecnches

THE SAD THING IS ,EVERYONE LIKED WALTER AT SCOTLAND,NOW HE AND ALLY GO HOME TO THE 1 CLUB WHERE THEIR HEARTS ARE,AND IT SEEMS ITS ONLY THE RANGERS SUPPORTERS THAT STILL LIKE THEM AND SCOTLAND,THEY LEAVE SCOTLAND IN A BETTER POSITION THAN WHEN THEY STARTED[IF TOMMY BURNS GETS THE SCOTLAND JOB,RANGERS SUPPORTES WILL STILL SUPPORT THEM[

100% agree with LF-the guy's a traitor-playing for or managing your country should be the biggest honour bestowed upon any footballer or manager, fair enough if his contract was up but he couldn't wait to get away-he just clearly couldn't give a stuff!
What annoys me more is the amount of Rangers fans I've heard say they couldn't give as sh*t about Scotland as long as rangers are ok-what happened to national pride and patriotism??
