Practice this line, "you want fries with that?"
Old joke, I know...
truthfully, these kinds of degrees look seemingly peripheral for today's job markets, but, if one continues to utilize the education, it can promote a diverse and well-rounded individual for just about any career. It takes a bit of patience and self trust. Being an English Major means one has had to read copious subjects and distill many varied ideas and concepts. This ability can be translated to many other disciplines. Hold your head high - you'll find something that will grab your interest, and it will lead to the next thing.

You're looking through the wrong end of the telescope. Look at all the possible careers you might go in for which call for a non-specific university education and then see which one you might like to embark on. It will probably mean obtaining a postgraduate qualification or going through a graduate training scheme, but that's a small price to pay for the career you choose. Don't make the mistake of looking at what careers you can cram into your English qualification. Look at how your qualification can be of use in the career of your choice!

Become a teacher, a speeach therapist, work at Starbucks, write a book.

You can't really do to much with a BA but if you got a MA or a PhD you can do so much more.
