Some people are tormented after death.
Many religions teach that the wicked will go to a fiery hell and be tormented forever. Is this teaching logical and Scriptural? The human life span is limited to 70 or 80 years. Even if someone was guilty of extreme wickedness all his life, would everlasting torment be a just punishment? No. It would be grossly unjust to torment a man forever for the sins that he committed in a short lifetime.
Only God can reveal what happens after people die, and he has done so in his written Word, the Bible. This is what the Bible says: "As the [beast] dies, so the [man] dies; and they all have but one spirit . . . All are going to one place. They have all come to be from the dust, and they are all returning to the dust." (Ecclesiastes 3:19, 20) There is no mention here of a fiery hell. Humans return to dust—to nonexistence—when they die.
In order to be tormented, a person has to be conscious. Are the dead conscious? Once again, the Bible gives the answer: "The living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten." (Ecclesiastes 9:5) It is impossible for the dead, who are "conscious of nothing at all," to experience agony anywhere.
God takes people in death to be with him.
A 27-year-old mother who was dying and leaving three children behind told a Catholic nun: "Don't come in and tell me this is God's will for me. . . . I hate it when somebody else tells me this." Yet, this is what many religions teach about death—that God takes people to be near him.
Is the Creator really so cruel that he would callously inflict death on us, knowing that this breaks our hearts? No, not the God of the Bible. According to 1 John 4:8, "God is love." Note that it does not say that God has love or that God is loving, but it says that God is love. So intense, so pure, so perfect is God's love, so thoroughly does it permeate his personality and actions that he may rightly be spoken of as the very personification of love. This is not a God who takes people in death to be near him.
False religion has left many confused as to the whereabouts and condition of the dead. Heaven, hell, purgatory, Limbo—these and various other destinations range from being incomprehensible to being downright terrifying. The Bible, on the other hand, tells us that the dead are unconscious; they are in a condition best compared to sleep. (Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10; John 11:11-14) Thus, we need not worry about what happens to us after death, any more than we worry when we see someone sleeping soundly. Jesus spoke of a time when "all those in the memorial tombs" would "come out" to renewed life on a paradise earth.—John 5:28, 29; Luke 23:43.

Many people believe in a spiritual existence which means that while your are living, you are in a material form (human body) and when you die you transcend into a spiritual form where you exist on another plane. This spirtual form is usally referred to as being a spirit. Spirits are amongst us all the time it's just that most people haven't attuned themselves to notice them. People who have developed their psychic abilities have honed this skill to be able to interact with the spirit world.

The answer to this question can be found in the testimony of a man called Ian McCormack. He was stung by a box jelly fish and was dead for 15 minutes. You should listen to his story and then make your mind up. Be aware that after listening to this, you will have a decision to make. Here is a tip: Set before you is Life and death. Choose Life.

Death is inevitable. The thief on the cross knew when his would occur, but we can not predict our own. After his death, the crucified criminal went to live in paradise with Jesus. Some of us will also live eternally in God's presence. But others will experience everlasting torment, forever separated from Him.
If we receive Jesus as our Savior, our penalty for sin is paid. We are adopted into God's family, and Heaven is our eternal home. If we reject Jesus, we remain alienated from the Lord and under condemnation for our sin. We are destined to experience eternal judgment. God won't accept any of man's excuses because there is no acceptable defense for unbelief. (Acts 4:12)
Become part of God's family today. Acknowledge your sinfulness, and express your faith in these words:
"God, I have sinned against You. (Romans 3:23) I've followed my own way and refused to give You the right to rule in my life. (Romans 3:10-12) I recognize I am separated from You and cannot rescue myself. I do believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son. I accept the truth of the Scriptures? that His death on the cross paid my sin-debt in full. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) And I ask You to forgive me of my sins. (1 John 1:9) By faith, I receive You, Lord Jesus, as my personal Savior from this moment on."
If you just spoke those words to God, then, like the thief on the cross, you have received salvation? a gift of God's grace. The heavenly Father welcomes every person who comes to Him through His Son, regardless of background, age, or current situation. Through Jesus, the right to enter paradise is yours!

There are three belief systems of what happens after you die.
1)you decompose, your dead, ain't no more, if you believe this nothing you do here matters, if the law don't get you your good to go.
2) Heaven/Hell If your good enough/saved its off to heaven, if you are bad its off to hell.
3) spiritual/reincarnation return here until all karmic lessons are learned and then back to father/creater
It is the responsibility of each of us to learn the truth?

That's the end. My body decays and since my brain is dead, I cease to exist entirely.

Wallace: I've had a Near-Death Experience too, and it changed my life for the better. However, I didn't see this Ian fellow's god heaven or hell... in fact, I saw Fenris Wolf from Norse Mythology. If we're going to start considering NDE's valid tools for spiritual revelation, will you join me in worshipping Fenris?

Scriptures show that death in humans follows the loss of the spirit of life so when you die you die. There is no spirit floating around.

they gut your body like a cow and sell your body parts on the black market..then they overcharge the grieving family and pollute the planet with graves that will eventually be forgotten however I believe that our spirit is saved and recycled on differnt levels depending on the amount of damage that you caused when living...and we all cause damage, some alot more than others
