I hurt my back a couple days ago lifting something too heavy, it's been KILLING me for the last two days. Well besides the fact that I did it at work.....my boss is happy with my work right now, and wanted to give me either a paid day off, or a massage....I TOTALLY want to go with the massage because my back's hurting so much, do you think a misuse would better or worsen the way my back feels?

Wow.

Go for the massage--maybe your boss will tell you what you need to do for that raise...

A one time massage will help and benefit for a short while only (a day or less) and it may also worsen afterwards. I would recommend as in addition to the payed massage make an appointment for 9 more and then be sure that all is well. I would consider a payed rest at home and using a warmer to worm gradually the hurting area.

how about a chiropractor? your health insurance probably covers those visits.

how much money do you make in a day? how much does a massage cost? probably, you could spend the money you'd earn on the day off to pay for the massage... and have some left over!

they massage may or may NOT help your back. if it hurts that bad, you may not want someone rubbing you there! good luck and i hope your back gets better!

Oh my take the massage :0) Not only will it do your back good it will lift your spirit...

Figure out what you would make in one day, then compare it to how much a massage costs. Maybe you can do both :0) and have a couple bucks in the pocket....

The massage sounds great!

But have you tried an ice pack on the back for 10 minutes or so? I hurt my back and went to a chiropractor. He told me to put an ice pack on my back for ten minutes. But to be honest, I fell asleep with it on me. When I woke up (a couple of hours later) the pain was gone.

Conclusion, I'd hurt something badly enough to make it swell. The ice pack brought the swelling down and solved the problem.

Please try it.

It would probably make you feel better for the short term anyway. Even if you only got a couple of hours of pain free time I'm sure you'd be grateful for it. Providing he is sending you to a professional massage therapist and not wanting to give you the massage himself. Best of luck in overcoming this pain and if it continues you'd be wise to visit your doctor and have him look at it.

Cyropractor! And apply for compensation while your out.
It could be serious. Don't fool with massage without professional help, it could make you worse.
Hurt on the job requires documentation. Start with a Doctor. Don't leave anything up to your boss...It isn't him who is hurting. If you get fired you can sue.

get a massage, but make sure you file a formal injury report. just in case you need to see a doctor. you would be covered under Workman's comp. make sure you check out your labor bureau in your state hope you feel better soon!
