The Coast Guard is the hardest branch of service to go into. You will probably want to talk to a recruiter about this. Females have it easier getting in. Because the numbers are low. But having a Ged might be tough. They do pick and choose who they want. Just to put things straight. Coast Guard is over there fighting the war too. We just don't have as many people. Due to we are the smallest branch. Smaller then the New York Police department.

I don't know what the minimum score you can get is, but I know they do give out waivers for low scores. I went to bootcamp with a kid who scored a 28 on his ASVAB. He was a nice kid, just not very sharp.
The ASVAB is actually a really easy test, you shouldn't worry about it. Getting a low score won't necessarily keep you out, but it may limit the jobs available to you.
Usually after you take the test your recruiter will show you a list of MOS's or Ratings that you can go to school for. If you score low some of the ones, like technical jobs or intelligence jobs won't be available.

Contact your local recruiter, they will give you the exact score required, take the test, it isn't too tough and what are you out if you don't make it,you can take it again. By the way there is a good book to prepare you for the Asvab test. My son got the book, studied and got a really great score. If it helps you even for a few points you will be better off. The training that you will be offered is based on Asvab. Good luck

ok. The nationwide seem after(Air/military) are basically state managed aspects of their federal enormous Brothers in case you'll. The nationwide seem after is definately going to have more effective options and occupation options. As a Guardist you've get entry to to each of the armies MOS options 2 hundred+. the position contained in the coast seem when you've very few get entry to point options. also the NG is providing a 20,000 dollar sign in to the coast guards 0. so a techniques as pay it basically relies upon on rank yet nationwide seem when you'll make more effective or less one hundred and fifty$ a month as drill pay untill you're mobilized then you definitely might want to recieve finished pay as an total time soldier. CG in case you're taking the reserve direction similar ingredient once a month drill pay, yet when finished , finished pay.

they don't let people with GED's into the coast guard. They can afford to be picky, since many people who want to serve the country but don't want to have anything to do in Iraq will choose the coast guard.
