I am trying to find my home's propane connection. I just moved into a new home and I can not figure out which propane tank is mine, I have looked everywhere! I found a tank that is at the house next door, but I am not sure if it is connected to me and my house or not! If anyone has an idea on how to find my tank please let me know. I have found the main hookup to the house and there is a lock on it! Thank you in advance!

Look outside for the regulator (small 6"round metal object). It is usually near the electrical service post. It could be possible that the house is fed my natural gas. If there is a big meter (but not an actual meter)looking device outside, chances are this is natural gas. Feel free to email me with other questions.

A good Realtor would have contacted the Propane Company for you, or at least given the contact information to you. But more typically the propane company and the customer are both in the dark while the realtor dashes off with their commission check.

If you found a lock on the system, the propane provider may have been aware that the home was for sale. But, generally if they put a lock on the system they should have also left contact information at the home. If the house was empty for an extended time before you bought it they may have removed the tank.

You should contact the realtor or previous owner first. If that is not an option, look at the tank that you found at the neighbors house. You may find contact information for that propane company on the tank itself. You could also talk to the neighbor to see if they knew who the provider was or even where the tank was located.

Feel free to email me if you need, or have more detail.
