I will not do business with cold-callers at all.
I prefer to independently check out various options for whatever goods or service I am interested in. That gives me an idea of various options each Company offers and helps me decide which options are important to me and which options are nice but would be a waste of money for me. It also allows me time to check out the Companies themselves.

Telemarketing has been successful because they always manage to get some person who they make feel guilty or can't say no. It is easy to throw away a piece of mail or delete an email. However, criminals have found this to be successful also. You do not know who to trust. The rule is do not give any personal information, especially credit cards, over the phone. If they are legit, they have other means to accept donations or web sites. Sign up for the national do not call list. Report abusers.

Register your telephone numbers for the Do Not Call list (www.donotcall.gov). Any telemarketers (not people soliciting funds for charitable organizations or political advertisers) who call you number can be reported and they will be fined.

Until your number(s) come out of their calling list politely tell them "no thank you" and hang up. Once your number(s) have been deleted then you will be free from their nuisance calls!

With my LIFE. As soon as I answer the phone and get to wait those 4 seconds before someone picks up the line, I get all warm and fuzzy and can't WAIT to position myself perfectly for the great deal they are offering me!

Nope.
I hate those automated spam messages you get sometimes. You know the ones that phone you and you answer and they go "press two if you would like information on our company's products" etc...
