This is a SERIOUS question, I don't want no homophobic answers or whatever, but I'm just interested why the majority (or perhaps just the vocal majority) have very negative views on homosexuality.
This only comes about because of this news article >>http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/6243323.stm<<. I asked my mum last night (who is a Christian) if she didn't like gay peeps because of her moral views or religion. She answered because of her religion. So I'm just interested.

I don't see what the big difference is between male homosexuals and female homosexuals, but I'm referring to gay people in general (so both male and female)

Yeah I am serious, I haven't read the Bible (it's a really big book, I can't handle big novels) so I didn't know that. But cheers for saying

Are you serious?? Religious folk don't like homosexuals because the bible clearly says thou shalt not lay with another man as with a woman. The bible also defines marriage as a union between a man and woman under god. The bible also forbids fornication.
So it is impossible for homosexuals to be married under god, no matter what the law says. Therefore homosexuals are committing fornication, pure and simple, as well as violating god's instruction not to lay with another man.

This question is a matter or individual opinion, I think. Which religion you belong to, and how you interpret what it teaches about homosexuality. Like your mother, I'm a Christian, and I can say that I don't discriminate against homosexuals. I believe that as a Christian, you shouldn't be a homosexual. It is said in the Bible that it is an abomination to God. However, I believe that as a Christian, I should have tolerance for those of other beliefs and not be negative towards them. I don't condone it, but I don't frown upon it either, you know what I mean? My entire views on the subject are pretty complicated... but the bottom line is that I don't have a very negative view on homosexuality. I'll even add that I do believe homosexuals can be saved and go to heaven, because in Christianity, to accept Christ is to have your sins forgiven. Therefore, I believe that even if the Bible says homosexuality is a sin, it can be forgiven. Just like the Bible says murder and theft are sins, yet murderers and theives who accepted God went to heaven.

I am not homophobic, i am not afraid of homosexuals, in fact some of my best friends are homosexuals.
However the Bible clearly states that sex between members of the same sex is wrong. The reasons for this go back to God's created order. God created humankind as two different sexes which together are created in God's image and become one flesh in marriage. Any kind of sexual relations outside of this is a peversion of God's intended role for sex as part of the pair bonding that helps hold mates of the opposite sex together.
The Bible's condemnation of sexual sins concentrates on heterosexual sins (like incest, rape, adultery, sex before marriage), but also includes homosexual sex and sex with animals.
Along with other sexual practices, homosexual sex if explicitly forbidden in the Bible, and every time it is mentiond it is clear that it is seen in a very negative light. See Leveticus 18:22; 20:13; Romans 1:26-27.

There are some verses in the Bible that shows clearly that homosexual practices are wrong to do.
What I want to make clear to you is all sin is condemned. Especially mine. I am a Bisexual Christian. That's why I need Jesus Christ. He covers my sin. So I am a sinner still, but I am a saved sinner.
In my Bible it says that Jesus is the friend of sinners. It's those who don't think that they sin that Jesus had a hard time with. The Pharisees were some of those types of people. They thought that they had God and righteousness in their corner. Jesus told them that they were wrong, sometimes in stronger terms than what I just used.
So homosexuality, if trust in God trhough Christ is applied is nothing. What a Gay Christian must do is make sure that they are not taken away in attitude from God by their action, and it's the same for all of us.
So Gays can be saved, not because they stop being Gay, but because they trust God for their salvation. ( :

I was once raised Catholic - I stop going to church in top institution, and feature fairly on no account claimed any faith considering that. I adore the Buddhist teachings, however under no circumstances might I name myself a "Buddhist." I'm nonetheless making an attempt to determine such a lot different stuff in my lifestyles correct now, I'm now not even considering what faith I am!

I am a christian and I have close gay friends. God has said in the Bible that homosexual sex is a sin. I can (and do) hate the sin, and still love the sinner. However, when the sinner takes it upon himself or herself to actively and publicly promote the sin then I think its my duty as a christian to just as publicly oppose that. It doesn't mean I hate homosexuals. I just think their advocacy of a sinful lifestyle is wrong.
Now on the other hand, homosexual sex isn't the only sinful sex. Any sex outside of marriage is sinful (including hetero). I know many people who commit this sin. Some of them are my friends. I am equally opposed when they publicly advocate this as a "normal", "good", and "healthy" lifestyle.

A) Because they are taught that it is wrong, mainly by taking an archaic book's words completely out of context, and twisting it to their liking.
B) Because many conservative Christians are brought up in such a repressive environment, they are very curious.
C) Many hide behind their bibles to justify their hatred.
D) Not all male Christians hate lesbians. Check their hidden video stash for more info.

Christianity teaches that we should love the sinner, but hate the sin. This is the way God is. But being human, it is sometimes hard to separate this... that is from human actions and the actual sin.
