If it is your first offense with no other priors you will be in a better light.
Were you in your car?
Do you have children and were they present?
Were you using at the time of arrest?
Do you have a medical condition that is alleviated by use?
Were you arrested in the process of buying?
I'm sure you don't have prescription but you might think about getting one.
They give them for everything from cramps to depression to chronic nausea.
All of these things are a factor.
Fist time offense, no children present, just carrying, not in the car, not purchasing. . .you could probably get it dropped down to a misdemeanor fine and do community service.
Show remorse, be respectful of the court, dress appropriately.
Also if you can afford it at all it is better to get your own attorney.
I can't stress this enough.
At least get a consultation of an hour or two.
It will be well worth the money you spend.
The court doesn't want to be clogged up with non-violent crime nor do they want to waste cell space on it.
I think the real question is going to be how much will it cost you and what impact will it have on your job.

It depends on the charge and class of felony without any details it's hard to say. If it is not extremely serious usually if it is the first offense probation is usually granted.

well if you are convicted of a felony you automatically lose your rights to gun ownership , voting and many other personal rights depending on what state you live in.
