I recommend that you learn Phonetics. Check out in your local library or book-store for a book on phonectics and pronunciation.
Seccondly, you absolutely must learn the correct sound of every common word.
I reccomend for listening practice to listen to Radio NPR, if your learning American, or to the BBC if learning British. It is better than movies because the pronunciation is very careful on the radio.

It depends whether you want an English or American accent but you should listen to the radio and films in english and try to copy the way they speak.

i think u should make friends, and listen to them, watch tv, listen to the radio and take english clases and read the books. and it will take about 2 years to improve your accent :)

Podcasts are the way to go because when you're listening to a podcast you focus solely on the spoken language (how words are pronounced, which ones are stressed, et cetera) without being distraced by the images.

by watching TV. it really helps. i use to watch the Cosby show and watching nick Jr. it might be kiddish but it really helps.
