It´s not stated anywhere in the Bible that priests can´t have a wife or sexual intercourse.

I think they should be able to have a wife, maybe it would cut down on all of the child molestations that priests have been responsible for. We live in different times now than when the bible was written, things have to be changed to accommodate modern times.

the priests have a vocation and are married to the church. as a married couple is married to each other and that is their vocation so is the priest married to the church. Do you know in the Bible where it says that a man be better off if he is NOT married? I think it was Paul. Check it out and get a Catechism for more info.

Well I believe there are two main reasons:

1. They have a misunderstanding of sex. Sex is a HOLY, SANTIFIED THING. And God wants us to enjoy it and participate in it. Of course within the bounds of marriage.

2. They also want to give their total lives to God. When I was single I realized that it was a gift from God. So when I was single I tried to spend more time working on my relationship with God. However, I do not have the strength to go unmarried. I am a minister and I am married. I can see sometimes, how one could be more effective without a wife. A family naturally, and should, take up more time. Whereas you could just be serving people instead.

Its not a matter of, should a servant of God be married or not. Its a matter of what is right for you. Many Priest should not be preist, because they can not withstand the sexual withdrawl.

In the medieval era, priests controlled a lot of the town's wealth. Not allowing them to have kids (at least not legally-recognized ones--some did have kids, of course) meant the church's wealth couldn't be inherited by someone else. It also was meant to keep priests free to perform their many duties--they were the town psychologist, fed the hungry, stockpiled food for famine, etc.

It's not stated in the St. James version of the Bible.
They have their own version - Catholic version - and I'm not sure what is stated in there as to this question. But I know that they follow Church Law more than a Bible and it is stated in their church's laws that they cannot have relations or marry.

It depends on the church you're talking about. In the Eastern rite, priests are allowed to marry. (Or, more acurately, married men are allowed to become priests).

It was the same way in the Roman rite until the church started getting nervous about church property being handed down to the priest's children.

Priest are allowed to have sex, why do you think they have a Brothel in Vatican City.
Why do you think the Catholic Church runs the 2nd biggest Pedophile ring on the planet.
(The Islamic pedo ring is the biggest).
Marriage is out so all the priests worldly possessions are left to the church.

because they are posed to be strict believers of God focusing on leading people to them. Having a wife would probably be a big distraction.
