Most of the person's that you are calling "Spies" are taken from the military, like Marine Special Forces, Navy Seals, etc. There is a remarkable amount of training to go through, but if someone wants to do that sort of work, they can. Oh, by the way, you must be able to kill at will. Keep that in mind. Go to CIA.com or United States Secret Service.com. You might also try US Government.org

Most "spies" as you choose to put it would never call themselves that. Many are either ex military or ex detectives. You need to know how to snoop around and get information without anyone knowing you're looking. Reconnaissance for example. There are many Private Eye companies out there. You just have to know where to look. If you are really serious about this kind of thing, find a police bar in your neighborhood. There are many as cops like to drink after their shifts. Make friends with a few. They'll no doubt know where you can get your foot in the door. But as previously said by other Yahoo-ers, not just anyone can get into this field. It's probably easier getting a part time job as a surgeon. Good luck though.

Second thought: Usually, they recruit you, you don't join them.

Well if your serious and I mean serious about the intelligence career consider the military (Air Force or Navy the 2 best)...Once in try to get into intelligence it'll look real good on your resume..Also learn languages right now they need people fluent in Arabic,Farsi and other Middle Eastern languages and cultures CIA.GOV is the agencies website...Read books about it go to amazon.com and look for an author called Robert Baer he has a few books out that describes the life of a CIA agent.... Good Luck

If you are interested, log on to the CIA website, or talk to their recruitment division, and they can fill you in. You have start from the very basics, like in any other field, and this may take years of preparation and training.

Well if you don't know, you obviously aren't qualified. First you need to know how to spell. Spies are highly educated people and as of now, you would not fit in.
