Could you please recommend a program for creating flash animation? Preferably something that is well known. Doesn't matter if it is freeware or not.

well in order to make "Flash" animations you need Adobe Flash.
you can make different animations with different programs like: Adobe Image Ready, or Selteco Bannershop, and many more, but they wouldnt be called "Flash" animations.
...in reference to the answer above me, Adobe bought macromedia, it's now called Adobe Flash, and yes i believe they have a demo version for download, if you try macromedia.com it sends you right to Adobe.

Although Macromedia FLASH MX Software is the first preference for flash animations for most of the guys.
But apart from that, many other EXCELLENT softwares are also available like Swish, Amara etc.

Macromedia Flash Suite... Costs a Bundle but does a great job

Definetly Macromedia Flash 8 Pro. You can download a trial version on their website: macromedia.com it is pricey though but the best.
