Maybe you should eat more bananas, so you get some potassium. I get those cramps at night and I always heard that the more potassium you intake the less cramps you will have.

I've been taking Quinine Sulfate capsules (prescription) for this. It's very effective. If this isn't feasible, you can drink tonic water each night but I can't stand the bitter taste. Be sure you get enough potassium and calcium in your diet. These sure can be painful!!

You could be lacking in magnesium, calcium, potassium, salt or iron. You need to find out what your deficiency is. You can try to take those supplements on your own or go get a blood test.

I would suggest you do some stretching exercises before going to bed. Slowly stretch whatever muscle it is before you go to bed so it can relax before you get to sleep. Other than that I would suggest speaking with your doctor and maybe they can give you a prescription for a muscle relaxer. Best of luck!

Oh god! those are the worse! but the solution is really simple.
When it happens straighten your leg and point your toe up towards you.. and it goes away imediately. (Given you get these cramps in your legs.)
