yep i doand i dont know where it came from.
was on a flight once beside a random man with my sister and i was freakin so much the man asked me if it was my first time flying!! tho i go away every year!!
its just summit u gotta deal with.. i eat chewing gum during take off.. shut my eyes and cling to the arm rests.. try to relax your shoulders tho it helps. count in your head how long it takes to get up and flatten out that gets that bit over.
when its mid-flight u can try this tapping technique i saw on telly. try it at home first and wen ur happy and relaxed. all you do is tap your wrist. when your in the air then ur brain will think back to that time when you were relaxed. the tapping also helps take your mind off the fear.
bring plenty of things to do and read to keep your mind occupied.
drink plenty of water and breathe deeply if you freak slighty.
u will be fine though. its statistically safer to fly than go in a car so just try to think of that.
these get me thru it every year!
hope it helps =) xo

Getting drunk is not a good idea; they won't let you on the plane.
I was petrified of flying until ten years ago, when I faced up to it and forced myself onto a short flight. You have to come to terms with it all: what is the risk?, etc.
Flying is the safest form of transport, but that's no comfort to you, is it? There are courses you can try for nervous fliers, but my advice is to bite the bullet and just do it. It's no different than being on a bus, really. Since my first short flight I've crossed the Atlantic about twenty times with no problems at all. Go for it, you'll be fine.

Go see your doctor, maybe he can give you some something to relax you. Another good thing is to breathe very deaply and concentrate whilst breathing. Close your eyes and visualise the air you breath in (count to 4 seconds) and the air you breath out (again count for 4 seconds). Once in the air, keep yourself busy by reading or watching the in-house film. Remember, more accidents happen on the road every day than in the air every 5 years. Just think of the beautiful place at the other end. Maybe take a brochure of all the pic's to look at where you're going. That should not only take your mind off it, but get you excited about the whoe holiday. Enjoy and try relax!

I used to have a fear of flying and only one thing solved it: Taking tons and tons of flights. I forced myself to go on as many flights as possible. Now I can safely say that I've been on many flights and I just accept turbulence as a given.
A few things to note:
1) Turbulence is like a speed bump. Do you know of any car accidents caused by speed bumps?
2) The air is even more safe than the taxi-way
3) Thousands of flights happen every day without incident. The same cannot be said of the road.
4) Accept that turbulence happens. But turbulence doesn't cause accidents.

Dont get Drunk, they wont let you fly !!!!!!! Get a Xanax or a Valium form your doctor, he should be able to give you 2, one for the travel there, one for the travel back, and its doctor approved, , and remember, they do not allow liquid makeup now, weird but true. They will make you throw it (and all your make up) out if it is not in a plastic zip loc bag ! If you can not get a Xanax or Valium, get some Benadril, it will make you sleepy and calm you down. Incidently the new thing is to sell plastic baggies at the airoprts, my sister had to buy one for $10 to put her expensive makeup in ! So take some extra with you for your trip home to have on hand in case you need them. Please note: plastic zip make up bags do not cut it, they want to be able to see whats inside the bag without actually touching your stuff.

Yes I have a definate fear of flying. And even though it may be the safest way to travel, I'd rather take the extra time and drive. At least then I can be in control and not have someone else be responsible for my death.

My friend has a fear of flying so when we jet off on holiday we all try to reassure her that actually nothing can go wrong - thousands upon thousands of people fly each day and are absolutely fine? Don't know how it will work for other people but seems to reassure her!

i had fear of flying about 2years ago i didnt want any one to even talk about a plane trip or any thing like that, then my dad got ill and i had to get on the plane, yes i was shitting bricks but i calmed down and i thought any where you are you are still in danger a plane as well as a car you are still at risk as well as walking you can always find something that may hurt you, but little by little you will get over it

drink is good.. eek! I absolutely hate flying and am a nervous wreck throughout which is tough cos i love holidays! i find reading, watching films, chatting does nothing to take my mind off it either! Lately i've used homoeopathic remedies, they are good and take the edge off providing you take the right ones. I cant sleep even with sleeping pills! lol.. next time i fly i am seriously considering going to the docs for Valium! or maybe try being hypnotised?
