I attended a wedding in a city hall wedding chapel about 5 years ago and the justice of the peace wore a simple black suit. I don't think anything dressier than that is neccessary.

JP's are judges so therefore they do not have robes. They wear street clothes. Ask the JP what he usually wears. I'm sure that he will be amenable to most things unless it is asked that he purchase something new and then the wedding party would have to cover the cost

Well all the ones that I have seen at weddings wore a robe, just like a judge would wear in a court house....

my husband i got married on a beach, with about 35 friends / family. i wore a long white wed dress, slim, and my hub wore a suit. we had a non religious ceremony. my son walked me down the ailse (beach) to the ceremony. the justice of the peace wore a skirt suit.

Our JOP basically wore a business casual suit. Jacket, tie and slacks but not real dressy.

Most wear their Black Robes that they sit on the bench in.Well he can wear whatever he wants as long as he wears something.
