It is easy to accept him. If this is the only way to be saved, I can do this all the time even if I do bad things. Why do I hear many "Pastors" say "accept Christ as your savior and you shall be saved"? People believe in this too much and this makes them do bad things because anyway, they believe they will be saved just by accepting Christ.

Can accepting him as a savior assure you in going to heaven?

I think you're on the right track that there's a lot more to salvation than just giving "lip service" or saying words.

best wishes

I believe it isn't just about saying the words. It's the same idea if someone hurt your feelings, and they pretended to apologize, and then they turned around and did the same thing again.
Yes, we have to accept Jesus Christ. But the part a lot of Christians miss is the REPENT part. Repenting means more than apologizing. It means you promise to change your ways and become a better person.
Jesus told us, time and again, "if you love me, you will keep my commandments."

Romans 6
What shall we say then? Can we continue to live in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid! How can we, who are dead to sin, live in sin any longer?

you can't just be saved and expect to go to heaven if your not following God's word. This is a real good question because I've seen alot of people who think they can just go get saved and countinue doing what they've been doing.

Not saying that you have to be perfect but atleast make in effort to live the way God wants you to and stay in his word. Follow his guidance. Not "Just cuz im saved I can do what I want to do" no....dont work like that

God gave us all a measure of belief in the beginning, what we do from there is by choice,God is a spirit and being saved in His kingdom not only assures us of grace for our mistakes, salvation and His promises, christians that are truly saved does not want to sin or get out of His will true christians want to please Him by accepting Him and His blessings.Yes it does assure us that we will go to heaven and we are His children by sinning we break fellowship with God

Nowhere in the Bible does it say to "accept Jesus into your heart as your savior" or anything similar. Jesus does say "I am the way... the only way through the Father is through me". What that means exactly is up to the interpreter but to me it means that either his sacrifice was to atone for sins so that humans could be redeemed of their curse and once again be intimate with God (or the Spirit) OR that by following his teachings on life was the way to be intimate with the father (God). Jesus never says his sacrifice only belonged to 1 denomination, 1 race, 1 people, or to those who accept the fact that he did what he did... its kind of silly when you really think about it that you have to "accept what he did" to attain the "reward".

Also, salvation and "getting into heaven" are two completely different things, though they are typically lumped together by Christians for different purposes. According to the Bible, there was no way to God before Jesus' sacrifice. That is HERE... on earth... not about Heaven. That is the purpose of the Holy Spirit within Christianity. "Getting into heaven" is a whole other issue with different criteria ranging in different denominations from having to be baptized, to accepting Jesus in your heart, to it being a free gift to everyone.

However, from a Biblical standpoint, accepting that what happened to Jesus (or what he did for humanity) as being true does not necessarily grant a token into heaven.

Unfortuantely " accepting Jesus" has changed its definition from ancient days. Accepting Jesus means changin your life entirely and following Jesus' example. Many pastors preach the easy accept Jesus and you'll be saved no matter what you do. Some traditionalists call that "lovy dovy" preaching. Those pastors don't follow up that phrase with, "Now change your life and read/preach/teach the gospel".

Well, what if we're not the ones to do the accepting? Hopefully this will give you a different perspective on the questions you asked.

It is all about repentence through faith. If one truly believes that Jesus is Lord and their Saviour- they repent of sin, and give their lives to Him--and God gives them a new heart, and they are sealed with the Holy Spirit as it says in Ephesians 1. And no one can separate them from God, as Jesus says in the gospels. But God knows the heart of every man, and he knows who are His sheep---for as He says:

John 10:27
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

Jeremiah 15:19
Therefore this is what the LORD says: "If you repent, I will restore you that you may serve me; if you utter worthy, not worthless, words, you will be my spokesman. Let this people turn to you, but you must not turn to them.

We are saved by Grace through Faith in Christ. You can profess this faith in church if you feel led to but it's not a requirement. If you have faith in Christ, you are under the Grace of God and saved. But, you can lose this Faith and then you are no longer under Grace. If you regain it, then you are.

Many people can be saved, but not all share in the inheritance.
