it takes a lot of aspirin to kill a person. the pain of an aspirin poisoning would be very bad as well. aspirin overdose would kill the function of the liver which would cause a long and painful death. if you want to know the exact amount for an overdose just call poison control. the number is in every phone book.

9.9 times out of ten it cannot, unless you are severely allergic to it or something. But it will make you wish you were dead if you OD. Not a nice experience, I guarantee it.

WOW! What a strange question for me to stumble across. I just had a major incident with aspirin. Most of my life I have suffered from severe endometriosis & a couple of years ago had a partial hysterectomy, which stopped me from having monthly cycles (that is until about four mongth ago) It is a medical mystery but I do still have one ovary (not believed before to even be functioning) & the really strange part, when I had two ovaries and a uterous I had the most irregular periods, I could go 6 months without one, now that I started having them after my partial hysto-THEY HAVE BEEN EXACTLY 28 DAYS APART. My brother is an ob-gyn so I have always been able to have access to a doctor whenever I need one. When the periods started again, he insisted I have a full hysterectomy immediately, but I don't have that option with work and my four kids right now. He prescribes hydrocodoen each month for me & it helps a great bit, strangly Ibuprofin has always eased the pain from abdominal cramps for me (more so than any narcotic, hydrocodone, percocet, demoral etc.) But b/c I am anemic and was (now am) borderline type 11 diabetes, I did not need insuline injections, but i was to control my glucose levels with diet and exercise and with plenty of water. Lately I have been in such terrible terrible pain, that I have been alternating the hydrocodone with motrin 800mg even though I know they cause me to bleed and tear up my stomach. Then I started taking execdrin one day , took it first for a migraine headache and it ACTUALLY WORKED, took it once after a major hangover (all night Christmas pary-fundraiser benefit), it was like magic. One night I slept over at my b/f's and he did not have anything and I was hurting really bad from cramps, a migraine and my slipped disc and sciatica. He is older and has to take an aspirin daily to thin his blood to prevent a heart attack (DUH! THIN HIS BLOOD, SHOULD HAVE BEEN MY FIRST CLUE), But I figured an aspirin just this once wouldn't hurt me. Nothing bad happened and I got into the bad habit of taking three or four aspirin every time I had pain (a little background) my brother & every other physician has been very very very clear to me. I can take narcotics either compounded without the tylenol or I can have the aecetomenaphin (can't spell it), BUT I CANNOT EVER EVER HAVE ASPIRIN. I am 38 years old and in relatively good health, other than my periods i never get sick. two weeks ago I began feeling very sluggish and it jsut got worse every day. i was sleeping all day, barely waking up to get my kids from school at 3, thinking i will never get to sleep tonight, but I would be out like a ligth at 9 p.m along with them (i usually have insomnia). I lost my appetite, lost about 10 pounds, people started telling me i looked terrrible, well i fugured , no sh-- sherlock, i', not wearing any makeup, my hair is in a pony tial and i have on sweats, you are used to seeing me in a work suit. but I could really see the concerned look on peoples faces. I went to New Orelans, La New years eve and stayed through the Sugar Bowl Jan 3, and then 2 more days in Baton Rouge. If i would not have been traveling with a group who had planned this so long ago, (and bought the outragsly priced tickets to the game for me) I would have gone home. I should have gone home, b/c I was not any fun for anyone. I literally stayed in the bed almost the entire time. Every other day I would get a little bit of energy and in New Orleans the party atmosphere is quite catching. I drank New years eve (too much chanpagne) and nursed it the next day with ASPIRIN extra large frozen drinks (which made me intoxicated after four sips, but i finsihed it) went tothe game, had to leave before the first quarter was over get a cab back to the hotel and was asleep by 9. pm The next day I was sicker than I have ever been, assuming it was a hangover, but from what one drink and going to bed early???It did not make sense, I started my period again, now they were coming every 15 days and the bleeding was heavier than ever, then i got my first nose bleed EVER IN MY LIFE, still a dumb a--, i did not figure it out and kept on taking the aspirin fo rthe pain cramps) all I had to do my call my brother and he could have called in hydrocodone and i could have had it within an hour, bu ti did notwant to bother him. The next night my friend looked at my legs and asked me if I had used a butcher knife to shave, i looked down and almost fainted. getting weeker by the minute but refusing to admit that i was sick, i stayed in that night while myb/f went to visti his son who just had a new baby. i think by now i was at an all time record i had slept like 40 hours straight, waking only occasionly for necessities in brief 10 minute intervals. We flew home on Sunday January 7, 2007. flight did not get in till late. I literally had to be carried to bed but i refused to go to the E.R. I called my brother in the morning & told him I could not figure out why i was bleeding so bad,. he asked me if i had inadvertently taken any aspirin, not thinking it was a big deal i told him i had been alternatring aspirin and excederin 3 to 4 tablets a time every four hours. he went balistic. He drove over to get me took me to the hospital where we started with blood work, which showed bad renal results, so next was a sonogram of my stomach to look at kidneys, after a day of testing I learned that I am in accute renal failure, unlike chronic were i would possibly have had symptoms for much longer. my kidneys are functioning at or about 25% capcity. Surprisingly msot peopel in renal failure do not know until they reach end stage. there are five stages. There is still hope that with medication & diet we can get my kidneys working at 50% without the need for dyalisis or worse a transplant, but basically my stupidty killed my kidneys and I am an educated woman. I just did not really truly recognize the harm of otc drugs.

Long story short. It varies from individual to individual how much aspirin is too much. for me ANY WAS TOO MUCH, BUT FOR YOUR AVERAGE HEALTHY PERSON)ADULT) YOU SHOULD NEVER CONSUME MORE THAN 40GRAMS A DAY, NOW SINCE THEY COME IN MG, I DON'T KNOW THE CONVERSION, BUT I WOULD CERTAINLY CHECK INTO IT AND LEARN IT IF YOU HAVE ANY FEAR OR NEED FOR CONCERN AT ALL.

Don't ruin your life and make a stupid mistake that will affect you and the your family and the way you live for the rest of your life. This is the worst feeling, it is like having a terrible case of the flu 24/7, always tired, sometimes just nodding off while talking, or typing or playing with my kids 8 and under, always sluggish, lethargic, absolutely no energy. BE CAREFUL, DON'T EVER TAKE RISK YOUR BODY OR YOUR LIFE
