Giant (not Giant Bikes) owns most of the factory's in China - there fore a lot of bike are made in these facilities - ICRASHALOT THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT THESE BIKES ARE MADE BY GIANT.

Everything from the tube thickness to the degree of precision the tubes are cut is designed , planned and orchestrated by the designer of the frame. They simply provide the facility and CHEAP labor!

I PERSONALLY HATE THAT MYTH THAT YOU DESCRIBE!!! EDUCATE YOURSELF!

Most bikes under $500 are from China - What you are paying for is someones design to give you a distinctive ride.

As for buying a bike, is one better than the other - probably not, it's going to boil down to which rides the way you think it should ride.

ALWAYS check warranty - in writing before you buy, don't take the salesmans word for it, I've seen some people get screwed because of this.

You can probably get more bang for the buck by getting the Giant. Giant actually makes some of the lower end Treks along with some of the Fishers & Specialized bikes. The better bike is the one that fits, is comfortable, and will do what you want it to. If there is a couple different brands that work, check the specs & see what gives the best value for the dollar.

In part, it will depend on which two models you are comparing.

For hardtails, I would prefer Trek over Giant, but on full suspensions bikes, in my opinion Giant has a lot better designs, so I would choose a Trance or Reign over a Fuel or Remedy.

I think that both companies have a great quality and customer service, and probably lots of shops that handle them.

To be 100% honest, it really doesn't matter. What does matter is how you fit the bike. One brand might be a better fit than the other. Some people claim that Trek is better because they are an US company, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they make better bikes.

Based on materials Trek surpass Giant. However on value Giant may beat Trek on some models. Which bike is better? Honestly... there the same.

They're about the same. I'd rather have a Specialized for similar price.
