I am going to the UK and Ireland in March of this year and am on a budget. I was wondering what the cheapest and fastest way to travel around Europe would be. It's my biggest fear while I'm over there. That I'll run out of money because transportation is too much. I am SO excited about this trip, but the money is worrying me. Once I get a good price range about things, I think I'll be able to relax a little more. So, what would be the cheapest and best way to get from England (I'm flying into Heathrow in London) to Ireland up to Scotland? Anyone have suggestions? Thanks!

Travel from England to Ireland -- cheap flight with Ryanair. Book on the internet. Nothing remotely as cheap available.

Ireland to Scotland -- Ryanair again.

Scotland to England -- Easyjet (budget airline, book tickets on web well in advance) or Megabus

Between major cities in Scotland and England -- forget trains if you're not rich. Travel by Megabus (book seats in advance on the internet or by phone -- very cheap.)

Take it from someone who travels extensively in the UK and does it cheaply.

Scotland is amazingly eye-catching however the north west is breath taking in environment. whether this is very nearly constantly raining and boring gray skies, is likewise chilly lots of the 365 days. the all and sundry is friendly yet maximum disenchanted with the aid of the ever increasing crime and unemployment value in many the Scottish cities and cities. The regulation does not seem in simple terms and victims forgotten approximately and offenders taken care of as victims. I recommend you come for some months wreck first formerly shifting to everywhere interior the U.ok. the value of residing is intense while in comparison with the common salary. England is flat and not as incredible as Scotland yet has better climate as quickly as extra go through much extra issues in cities than Scotland, reguarding unemployment, regulation and order and a super form of immigrants from international extensive coming to an island which cant even help its patronates. eire is a divided united states of america of North and South and a few factors eye-catching and the Irish all and sundry is heat and finished of humour. i could think of back and relatively seem at a international locations economic gadget formerly making any determination. homestead no remember the place you're is the place the individuals you like are and bear in mind each so often the others guy grass constantly seems greener. stable success.

The underground, Train, and a good pair of walking shoes. Cabbies will over charge you if your not cardeful and do not understand the money exchange value. Check with a travel agent in ther USA first, they can give you maps, directions, atractions to visit, and discounts on travelling within the city your in. To get from Country to Country, probably boat or you can ride on a car ferry that transports boats for cheap. Only thing you got to wory about is getting to the first place and buying things in excitement, get your memoribilia BEFORE YOU LEAVE, NOT WHEN YOU GET THERE !

TRAIN seems to be the best way around England, Scotland, and Wales. Ireland you could probably take a ferry from western England or wales.

I used Britrail all over the UK. You must buy your pass BEFORE you leave, but you can get it for a certain number of travel days. Then you can travel an unlimited amount on any particular day, if you want to do day trips or something.

I think the best way would be to fly on a cheap airline. There are so many of them in Europe for only about 10 pounds each way.

There are some good answers, but no-one has mentioned National bus lines. If you book on line ahead of time, you can get some good deals and it is a lot cheaper than the train (unless you get a britrail pass.
