God's Word the Bible says that the soul does die. Who should know better what happens to a soul than the one who created a soul?
Did you know that Adam was a "living soul" Genesis 2:7 states:
"And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul" He became a living person so a soul is a person. You and I are souls, we do not have souls.
Can souls eat, sin, touch unclean things, swear, work, be destroyed, desire, hate, grieve, be tired, be persecuted, be healed? Yes,a soul can do all those things and more. There are dozens of Scriptures that testify to that.
The most important fact is that souls are not immortal---they die.
Ezekiel 18:20--"The soul that sinneth, it shall die."
Revelation 20:4--"and I saw the souls of them that had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus, and for the word of God..."
Revelation 16:3 --"And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea."

Through Jesus Christ, you are given eternal life, a new body in heaven...and your soul belongs to God. But without Jesus Christ, you are destined for hell- where the Bible says there is weeping and gnashing of teeth- a life completely apart from God- for sin separates man from God, and it is only through Jesus Christ we are forgiven from sin-- see John 14:6 and Romans 5:8-9.

Ezekiel 18:4
Behold, all souls are mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is mine: the soul who sins shall die.

The soul or spirit does live on after the body dies. This life determines where it goes after judgment.

It is true we are more than the body - but heaven and hell can be found on earth - thinking of someday going to a better place and not dealing with the now is mistaken.
