how do you deal with it when your dad has to go away for a while. like if he went on the road for a year?

you just do! My 8 year old is a daddys girl and he is deployed in Iraq for a year for his second time there. She just deals with it because she is a strong military child.

Make sure you keep in contact by phone or email or letters. When my dad had to go away when I was smaller, i wrote him and drew him pictures so give to him when he got back.

try not to make a big deal out of it. hes your dad and he loves you so its just as hard for him as it is for you.Just pray for the time to go fast and that everything will be ok
