Not likely. The only way he'll win any approval from the American public is to bring the troops home.

From what I've heard the president will explain why the troop increase is necessary. He'll explain that when the troops go into an area with insurgents and clean it out, that they don't have enough troops to leave behind to ensure that the area stays clean. Makes sense. It also made two years ago when the troops were encountering the exact same problem. This has been an on going issue that the president is only now addressing. Why the delay?

How can he possibly get their approval when 20,000 more troops won't be enough to win the war in Iraq. If anything he is only sending in a few more sticks to shake up & wake up more of the hornets in the Iraqi hive.

It sounds like he needs to convince the experts at the Pentagon first. High ranking Generals have repeatedly stated that A) any surge would require 200,000 to 350,000 troops and B) it could be difficult to mount any surge in any numbers with combnat effective troops.

No. He couldn't run a successful business or sports team, nor could he govern TX. He is a complete waste as a human being. BTW folks, this isn't a surge, its an escalation. Surges are brief and temporary.

Sure. He can bow to the will of the people and let polling dictate his actions. Or he can try to succeed at his job irrespective of the people's wishes. It's a tough call.
