The fastest passenger train is the MagLev in Shanghai. It goes from the aitport ot Pudong.

Top speed is over 500 km/h - though when I went on it it travelled at 430 km/h!!! The whole trip takes only 8 mins or so, even though the distance is about 32 km.

I may be wrong, but I thought there was a MagLev bullet train from the Shanghai airport to downtown Shanghai that was easily the fastest...but at 1 billion dollars/track mile, it may not be feasible in larger projects.
