Try asking at drjon@petplace.com . Its free and then you can decide to go to your vet. I'm lucky that my vet lives just two houses away. This is winter and he SHOULD be adding to his fur, NOT shedding.

may also be stress, anything changed at your place lately? My cat had the fur at the top of her tail thinning out last year, was literally pulling it out and always licking that area it was so thin I could see her skin, plus I would find she had thrown up around the house quite a few times. There was a lot of stress around that time, I paid more arttention to her gave her a bit less food at feeding time and this year you couldn't even know the spot was almost bare and she hasn't thrown up either. Good luck

Some cats that do not eat regularly and lose weight get a thin haircoat. You should take the cat to the vet to see if the cat is sick. There are many diseases of young cats that can cause this. Sometimes they pick up a virus or if the cat is outside, she may have gotten into a fight. Fever will cause a cat not to want to eat. It is cat breeeding season right now, so it is common for cats to get exposed to things outside.

YES. Your kitty has some serious issues. Take him to the vet and find out what's going on!

Good luck.
