A friend of mine is setting me up on a blind date with another one of her friends. When describing things about said woman, she says that she has a "thyroid problem". Does that mean that she's overweight or obese?

i think you are very shallow to worry about if someone is fat before you meet them! a thyroid problem can be overactive or underactive, if this person is aware of their thyroid problem they will be taking medication, i had a thyroid probem and was very thin, so who knows maybe you should find another date as clearly you are far too judgemental!!!

A thyroid problem could mean it's overactive (hyperthyroid) or underactive (hypothyroid). She may be underweight, normal weight, or overweight depending on what she has and how it is being treated.

Not always, there are two different kinds. One involves being overweight because your metabolism is slow, while the other involves not gaining any weight whatsoever no matter how much you eat because your metabolism is so fast. If you can be more specific to your problem, I can help you further.

If she has a thyroid problem and she's taking the proper medications, she may have no weight problems at all.

Not at all. She could be underweight, overweight, and even normal weight but with sudden feelings of being too hot or too cold.
