I have an glass roof conservatory which is great but gets too hot in the summer.
Do these special films work when applied to the glass?
Any other ways to cool the room down without spending a fortune on blinds?

Our conservatory is way too hot in the summer and Baltic cold in the winter, there is not a happy medium! I suggest knocking it down to the foundations and building up another room to make a breakfast room! Far more useful and the slate roof will mean it won't get overly hot or cold!!

But in your case if you don't want to over spend... then I suggest you install air conditioning! Never tried the films, but I guess it's trial and error just like everything else. If you do go for blinds, some companies do Buy 1 Get 1 Free! Look out for those in your local paper!

I would suggest Polarized Film on your glass. it reflects sunlight off of the window and doesn't allow excess heat in the room. Besides doing its job it also looks very nice.

I've grown a grape vine over mine. It's decideous so the leaves fall off in winter.
