I have some b&w pictures I have personally developed and I want to put them on my computer.
I have a scanner but the quality is not that great, I think...
Is there any place like kinkos that "rents" a quality color scanner so I can save the images to a disk or online??

You can buy the scanner, use it & return before the 30 day's
I done this countless times with digital cameras, camcorders and alot more.
Check the store's return policy, make sure they dont charge a restocking fee.

It would cost you more to rent than to buy one. When you scan your pictures in, make sure your software is scanning them as COLOR photos (even though they are black and white), and make sure your scanner is scanning at its highest quality setting.

An alternative would be to take the negatives and have those scanned and printed (camera shop or walmart, maybe?)...

They cost next to nothing to buy.

People give them away on Freecycle -- do a computer search on "Freecycle" to find your nearest one.

Some scanners have very good greyscale settings for B & W.

Check you're using the highest resolution possible.
