they can be if you don't have them done at a licensed and very clean tattoo parlor. some feel the ink is poisonous but there have been no studies to support this but that doesn't mean they aren't'...some ppl have reactions to the ink or prep involved. i think your dad is trying to keep you from making a permanent decision based on whats popular now...good for him. wait until you are at least 18 to make this decision...i had a good friend of mine get a tattoo when she was younger and now at 25 she wants it removed which is going to cost at least 4 times what it cost to have it done and a lot more painful...thats the problem with getting caught up in fads they grow old and you're left with it. trust your dad he loves you and has your best interest at heart...really he does even though you may not think so

Some people have reactions to certain color inks, but it's not poisonous. Usually all that means is that your skin will be bumpy sometimes where that color is. Sometimes the green leaves on my tattoo rise up like little hives. I'm not sure what causes it, stress, food, or weather or something.

some people do have religious beliefs against tattoos. Maybe he meant it will poison your soul.

they are not poisonous and not harmful to the body but you may want to do some extra research on them if you want to get them just so that you're not doing something like sneaking around to get one. Most likely, he is telling you that he doesn't want you to get one. He's right in that it is permanent and so you should make sure that you REALLY want it and you're not going to put something on your body that you will regret later in life. For me personally, I am getting one in 2 weeks and I am almost 30 and waited this long just so that I had LOTS of thinking time and I wanted to wait for something significant enough to me to put it on my body permanently.
There are those that put on tattoos when they're young and they love them when they're older...but there are also tattoos that the individual grows out of or doesn't like and they either have to get a cover up or just live with the tattoo that they regret.

hahahahaha Your dad is telling you that to scare you... tattoos done by true professionals and properly cared for are no more harmful and even less dangerous than common modern medical procedures done by doctors. BUT does your father ever drink alcohol? because that IS poison... just a very fun poison

Using regular ink for a homemade tattoo may be poisonous perhaps. I don't think that the ones used by professionals are.

No tattoos are not poisonous. He's just saying that to scare you out of getting one. Alot of people do that with their kids. We plan on taking our kids to get their first when/if they want one. But that's just us. Like I said your dad is just trying to scare you out of a tattoo. His perogative...
Hope this helps and good luck!

Tattoos are not poisonous; they've been around for decades. Your dad is simply trying to scare you into not considering one.
