if your payday falls on a federal holiday does your employer have to pay you to day before?

they don't have to, but a lot of them do for courtesy.

And since the previous day falls on the weekend, you should get paid this Friday. Obviously, this assumes that your paychecks are being direct deposited, which means that the banks will only deposit the check on days when the banks are actually open.

Rules vary by state, so you may want to look up your state (I searched for "arizona payroll rules"). I would be surprised if your state's rules were vastly different, and Arizona's state that one should be paid no less frequently than every 16 days. So in all likelyhood, you were paid December 29th you should be paid today.

You are correct. Ususally you will get paid the day before.

im wondering the same thing i get paid the 1st and the 15th, monday being martin luther king day and my pay day , when will i get paid???? friday or tuesday???
