You've heard the expression, the truth hurts.
Christianity is based on God's word, the bible.
John 17:17 says "The word is truth."
it hurts if you don't want to believe in it.

First of all, do not generalize atheists. There are A LOT of immature children (and I literally do mean children) who like to come into these forums asking confrontational, childish, and perverted questions to stir up trouble because they find it amusing in some sick sense. We are people just like everyone else. There are many good people out there that happen to be atheists and are very openminded people. There is no goal to try to disprove someone else's beliefs especially christians. They are not targeting people. They stand by what they say no different than a religious person standing by their beliefs but do it in a different manner. If you insult someone, no matter what, they will defend themselves. This is human nature. If you ask a question, expect an answer.

Because Christians are dominant in this nation, and because Christians are the ones trying to write their beliefs into law (i.e. banning gay marriage). If Hindus ever tried to do likewise here, I'd raise just as much hell (so to speak!). Besides, only Christians insist you must be a member of THEIR religion to be saved - Jews, Muslims, Hindus, etc. make no such statements! That is, Jews and Muslims believe Christians can be saved (without converting), but not visa-versa...

Way to generalize.
I'll say this, however, Christians are by far the most vocal (at least here) in their hate of atheists, homosexuals, and just about anyone else who doesn't think like they do...and not a day goes by that there isn't a question from a christian that starts off "Dear Atheists: Why...." and then proceeds to attack their beliefs.
So it's probably a retaliatory thing, eh?

Christians, and atheist ex-Christians, are just plentiful here.
Hindu, Buddhist, Jews, and Muslims don't come up to me on the street, hand me a pamplet, or complete text, and try to force me to re-think the hardest thing in my life: leaving my religion. After studying like a monk since I was born, I finally realized that I could see too deeply into my religion to consider it anything other than a myth and a cult.
Also, when was the last time a Christian actually cut off someone's head for not being Christian?

What united states of america do you reside in? interior the u . s . a ., the place i'm, the Christian inhabitants is probable around eighty 5%, not 29%. And interior the u . s . a ., this is not Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, etc., who're pushing further and extra of their religious ideals into public college teachings, government, rules, etc., this is Christians. as a result, this is Christianity that I "objective". If it replaced right into a team of folk believing in alien abductions influencing colleges and rules, proselytizing on highway corners, ringing my doorbell to objective to transform me, it may be that team that i could objective. whether this is not that team, nor Jews, nor Hindus, nor Muslims, nor Buddhists (there are atheist Buddhists with the aid of the way...), nor believers interior the Greek Pantheon... this is Christians. this is consistently constantly constantly Christians. ~Ex-fundie-xian; agnostic atheist

I would guess that it is because for the most part Atheists are fairly intelligent people and so they don't feel the need to attack religions that anyone with an ounce of common sense can tell is just some man made philosophy. Since the driving force behind a lot of the atheistic attacks is a desire to prove that they don't have to submit to the will of a Creator because there "isn't one" they attack the religion that has the most historical and supernatural support for it's legitimacy.
I doubt that many atheists take the time to attack followers of the Flying Spaghetti Monster for instance.

If you live in the Americas or Europe, then it's hardly surprising that the atheists you know are mainly concerned with Christianity. I'm sure atheists in India have plenty to say about Hinduism, and Israeli atheists about Judaism. (Arab atheists probably just keep quiet.)

Oh, I'll go after any religion that tries to force it down my throat. Strangely, only Christianity and Islam seem to try to do that... and if you check my answers, you'll find as much hate for Islam (not the muslims -- hate the ideology on its own merits, not the people) as for Christianity. They are both the offshoots of a religion that believed in being good people and loving their god quietly, whereas Christianity and Islam both have loud, boisterous, and vexing emotions attached to them.
If I were to assume that there was a deity, I would have to conclude that Christianity and Islam were born of a spirit of vexation, not one of love. And even without a deity, the spirit would simply be metaphorical.
Christianity and Islam are evil and morally repugnant.

Probably because, since Christianity is by far the most popular religion in the western hemisphere, it is the one we are most familiar with (through both knowedge and experience). Many atheists are former Christians (or, as I like to think of it "in recovery").

Because most of them are ex-Christians or at least have the most exposure to Christianity as opposed to any other faith. Their arguments target Christian dogma because there is a lot of documentation on the web about it. Many of them (as many believers) just spit out what they have read.
