because the ends break off less when they are cut clean. As you hair grows the ends begin to split and break off. So you hair is actually growing at the same speed it's just the ends keep breaking off giving the appearance of slower growth because the length isn't changing as rapidly.

It just seems to grow faster. It is very relative. When the hair is shorter even a small growth will look to be larger than if the growth was the same with longer hair

This statement isn't necessarily true. It doesn't grow faster, it grows healthier, which causes you not to have to trim as much to get rid of split ends giving the appearance of more growth.

This is a long time myth that has been proven wrong by everyone (including the hit TV Show MYTHBUSTERS).

Hair does not grow back faster or thicker when cut or trimmed.

Hair actually doesn't grow faster when you cut it.

Each strand grows at slightly different rates (because of when it sprouted out of your head), so cutting it makes all the strands the same lenght so it looks like it's growing faster.

You hair, regardless if you cut it or not, grows about 5-6 inches every year.

Hope that helps!

it doesn't it just goes by how fast your own hair grows. like my left side of my head it grows twice as fast as the left. the usual is about 1/4 inch a month some grows alot faster. did you know that there is a medical condition called rapid hair growth weird huh?

Because the dead ends of the hair prevent the hair to grow. And when its dead hair they tend to spit at the end, and then the hair cant grow correctly. Thats called split ends. That slows down the growth of the hair.

Getting your hair trimmed keeps it healthy, keeps it from splitting which keeps it from breaking off, hence not getting any longer.

The hair may grow from the top but it splits from the bottom.

it is from the ends splitting apart and being all dry...kinda like a plant- you know how you have to trim it in order for it to grow and still live and stuff. i think it is kinda like that
