After 32 years as a cop [every level, 3 departments] I now tell people always plead not guilty. You have nothing to lose. But there are a few tips. DO NOT go into court with an attitude. If you're going to spend the time to go then do so with the intention of kissing the judges butt a little not antagonize him/her.
Tell the judge that you may have lost track of your speed a bit but certainly do not think [use think not believe it says your feelings and does not infer that the cop lied] Dress nice, be happy, if you lose you lose, don't fret.
If at all possible get to the prosecutor or DA before court. In a really nice almost begging manner tell them how sorry you are, that you are a model citizen, have never done anything wrong [expect the time you re gifted Aunt Ethel] and would gladly pay $50 to the local DARE program than have a speeding conviction.
Whether you think the cops are fair or not is irrelevant. Save that conversation for the cocktail party that celebrates your being found not guilty. Any more questions Email me.
Remember, attitude is a choice.

You just said you were breaking the law and you want to fight a ticket you received for you law breaking. Why? If you are going down hill, let off the accelerator ad do more coasting. That will save gas also. And what difference does it make if two police cars are at the foot of the hill? If speeders were speeding on the street in front of you house where your children play in the front yard, you would welcome two police cars using radar on the speeders and probably be asking why they didn't send four police units to check speeders. The law is the law and must be obeyed. Otherwise, why have them? Sorry you got the ticket, but considered yourself lucky to have law enforcement enforcing the laws. What if there was a bus stalled on the down side of the hill after you topped it at 80 mph? Your child could have been on that bus. Learn from you experience, pay it, move on and obey the laws. You'll live longer. Dusty

To me that is a unfair justice system, because your going down hill which gravity pulls you down and the car is heavy which will make the car goes faster. You could use your breaks to slow down going down the hill, but that would wear out your break pads and I was told it was not good for your breaks system when breaking down a hill, except stopping at a stop sign or street lights. However, I can see some one getting a ticket for speeding on a flat road, but down a hill is wrong, it is all about laws of physics. That is cash cow to me. Just like photo radar, and red light cameras too. How does that deter speeding, running a red light and accidents, and catch bad guys stealing someone car.

That's why you have BRAKES on your car, to slow you down when you are going down HILL. The cops wouldn't have a "nice business" as you call it, unless people are speeding. Go ahead and fight it, that is your right, but don't use the hill thing as an excuse, find some other excuse.
What is "almost like a hill" by the way?

IF you have aclean driving record plead guitly and request PBJ (probation before judgment.) IF your license is clean than the court will set a probationary period and if you don't get another ticket then the points will not go on your record
