I used to have the same problem too.. you could switch to polycarbonate lenses which are virtually scratch resistant...but for the time being, leave them either on your face or facing upward whenever you put them down somewhere... also be careful when you clean them because even a papertowel will scratch your lenses if you arent careful... papertowels are made from paper...paper is made from wood... it contains little small wood particles..

Never put them face down, i.e. not on the glass side just on the
frame arms, that is the first rule. Secondly, when you clean your glasses wash them with warm water and soap and try with a very soft cloth not with any paper or hard cloth.

If you're talking about spectacles then

Don't buy plastic lenses and if you do, have them hard-coated.

If you've glass lenses, don't clean them other than with fluid designed for the purpose (generally water with a wetting agent) and use a soft chamois for polishing the lenses. Failing which a special microfibre cloth.

In addition to the good advice to wash them with soap and water (I take mine in the shower with me) and dry with a very soft cloth, also make sure to keep them in a case when you're not wearing them. There is also a scratch-proof coating you can get to protect them, ask your optometrist.

Don't put them lenses down on a table or desk.

Keep them in a case if possible.

If you put them in a pocket make sure you don't have other things in the pocket (i.e., keys, cell phone. lighter, etc.)

Clean them with a wipe designed for eyeglasses.
