80% of the Iraq's polled want us out of there country, so why are we increasing troop strength? We need to stop pussy footing around and tell the Iraq leaders to take control of there country. From what I understand, part of the 20,000 troops are going to come from Afghanistan where once again the Taliban is running amok. Sometimes i get the feeling Bush wants perpetual war in the Middle East.

Surge/escalation/reinforcements, what difference does it make what word they use. I like reinforcements for the troops which are there. Lets either get in or get out. Send in everything we have and get the job done and then we can slowly pull out and turn the country over to it's people. Don't tie the military hands, keep the media out and let the troops do their job. Its like having a riot in this country and the police department sends one officer in to handle it. If that officer is down, they send in another one, and another one, and another one..all one at a time. End it fast, send in everything you got and end the riot before is escalates. That's what we need to do in Iraq. Let the troops fight the war, not politicians. Let the troops do their job. Dusty

1. Calling it an escalation is treason against der Fuhrer, Kaiser Bush. Expect a visit from Fatherland Security.
2. If I were a bully following you around all day and slapping you in the back of the head, which will make you stop being angry at me: for me to hit you more and harder, or to stop and say sorry?
The US owes Iraq three things:
1) Billions in reparations.
2) Tucking tail firmly between legs during a cut and run
3) An apology to Iraq and everyone else in the region.
Osama bin Laden didn't cause 9/11. US foreign policy did.

It is indeed an escalation of combat. I don't believe that adding more troops to this war will help. It will IMO cause even more deaths and more radical Islamists. This Civil War has to be settled by the Iraqis and not by us and the answer is political. We should pull our troops back to the borders of Iran and Syria and refuse the entrance of foreign fighters to enter the country. This will give the Iraqi people time to settle things by themselves.

I say we pull out now and let them have their civil war. We are trying to stop something that has been ongoing for thousands of years. How is suddenly throwing "democracy" into the mix going to make a difference? Let them decide what they want. If they like"democracy" it will stick. Our troops are better utilized at home defending our own borders from illegal aliens. If there are so many illegal aliens easily crossing the border, how many of those are terrorists?

More troops will not help the American cause, this war is just like Vietnam! The troops dont know who are the enemy from those that are just regular people! In my opinon we should just beef up the protect of the US and leave other countries along...Bush needs to Stop trying to police the world!

Yes, the troop surge is an escalation to kill several hundred thousand Sunnis and the Shiites so that the oil fields can be fully under US control.

Well at one time we had 160,000 troops in Iraq. The current level is 138,000. If you add 20,000 you are still 2000 short of the high.

The 'surge' is because of 4 years of incompetent leadership, never forget that.
