Is it because he is trying to give me a warning, trying to be funny (and failing) or trying to cause trouble?
My boyfriend doesn't appear to be much of a womaniser to me so I wonder why he would say this.

Sometimes guys know things about other guys. They will tell other guys the intentions they have for a woman, even if they tell the woman something different. You need to think about this guy that told you this and think if he is just trying to get you for himself, or if you believe him and that he is warning you. I seriously doubt that he was trying to be funny.

Because it is true that men uses women. We all do, whether it is with a girlfriend or their wives. I'm sure there are a few relationships out there that is purely platonic in nature, but even in these there is use for a woman, to cook, clean, companionship. To be a true relationship you must have a 50/50 compromise. You use him and he uses you. This is just the facts of life.

well maybe your boyfriends friend is just being nice to you and doesn't want you to get hurt telling you ahead of time how he has been in the past or it could be something to do with him being jealous that your boyfriend has you. look into it more before you take the friends word about it and just stay with your boyfriend see how things go maybe in the past he just hasn't loved the girls so maybe he didn't treat them very good and he loves you so he will treat you great ask his past girlfriends about the matter too.

well I know that people who manipulate other people are very good at hiding it at first. They are con artist's and know how to act at first. Many the friend is wrong, but keep it in the back of your head, don't fall for being manipulated and watch yourself. Maybe he's a nice guy many he will turn one day and start his old tricks. Only you can judge this - do you think he was seriously trying to warn you, or did he seem to be having a laugh? If you think he was messing around, ignore it - he's some friend! If you think he was seriously trying to warn you, you must trust your judgement, doesn't necessarily mean your bf will 'use' you.

are you with your b\f all the time? does he go out with his mates a lot.if yes then maybe hes trying it on everytime he goes out
maybe this friend fancies you and his trying to break you up so he can ask you out... if his friend has known him longer im sure he knows his friend a little more then you ?
