I am not sure if you mean caps over the fronts of your teeth or the ones that go completely over your teeth. I have had 4 done at the front that are just over the front, they are porcelain and super smooth, they have fixed the admittedly small gaps in my teeth but they are really white and great! They last for about 10-15 years and do not stain. I got them done before my 18th birthday so they were free. However my mum is gettign hers re-done and for 4 or 5 (cant remember) and a replacement filling is £180. This dentist is top banana as well. he said the prices have significantly lower over the years of veneers.
As I said though I am not sure if you are wanting the whole of the tooth covered as I thought that they came as a complete cap over ALL your teeth (as shown on 10 years younger).

Depends on where you go! Veneers can range from approximately £250 up to £1000 per tooth! Shop around!! Also you may get many people on here who will say you get what you pay for, meaning that the cheaper ones will not be as good as the more expensive dentists, and this is not true in all cases! I think by paying around £400-£500 which is likely to be the average for many dentists then you will find yourself not being ripped off! Having veneers (or crowns for that matter), although considered cosmetic work in the dental industry is a procedure that is very common these days are you will find many dentists who are very capable of carrying out work on veneers.

You must remember though, the dentist is only responsible for making the imprints, helping you decide on shading , and fitting the veneers. The rest of the work - that is, the making of the actual veneer according to the imprints and shading information given is carried out at labs so if you are thinking of getting veneers make sure you enquire about the lab the dentist is in association with and also ask to see examples of veneers the dentist has. They should have some examples of veneers there in the dentist. Furthermore it can sometimes take time for the shading to be matched to your other teeth so ask the dentist questions about what will happen in the unlikely event of the veneer not being to your specification. A good dentist will be willing to take their time to get everything right!

As for veneers only lasting 5 years this is not always true! For some people they can last longer! It is not uncommon for veneers to last over 10 years but only if you look after them well - that is, you don't smoke, and you don't frequently consume foods and drink that will stain them such as tea coffee, red wine, and foods with colourings in them.

Agree with veneer problems. Only movie stars with $$$$ can afford upkeep on veneers. Get your teeth straightened , and whitened first. Just be sure to tell dentist you don't want them so white that they look fake. You can always go back to have extra whitening done, but if overdone the first time, there is NOTHING they can do to fix it. Bonding stains, and they grind the tooth down, so that you will have to have it bonded again. If your smile is now pretty good, don't do either veneers or bonding. You don't need a movie star smile to be good looking.

I had a quote about 4 weeks ago for similar thing. they told me £5,000 - £6,000. a lot of money i know, but it will differ depending on which place you get it done! This was a quote given to me by The Mall, in Manchester.

Hope this helps. I've decided not to have my done coz it's so costly, they told me i'd have to have them re-done every 5 years at the same price, so think how much it will cost in the long run!

:D
