I'd really like an answer from someone whose certified or has had this experience w/ their own camry. I have a 1992 Toyota Camry (V6) with about 140,000 miles.
My camry recently began stalling. At first, when I crunk it up and shifted gears (from R to D) it would shake and make a noise like it was trying really had not to turn off. Now whenever I put it in drive and press the gas it jolts me forward. It also has begun to turn off on me in the middle of traffic (sometimes when I'm sitting idle at a light or sometimes when I'm actually accelerating). It has done this more frequently, on an average of about 4-5 times a day. I just had an oil change about a week ago (it was beginning to act funny before the oil change). I think it may need a tuneup (It has'nt had 1 since before Jan of '06) I don't wanna waste $150 on a tune up if there may be something else wrong. ANYTHING you can think of please let me know. Also, when in traffic it will put it in Neutral and it seems to work better.

Could be a number of things, When was the last time the fuel filter was changed, the air filter, plugs/wires, dist cap and rotor? Start with the simple things you can do. Buy a repair manual and follow the step by step procedures for troubleshooting your conditions. Sometimes it is the littlest thing that can create big problems.

this sounds like a problem when the vehicle is under a load.most likely a distributor cap and rotor button.the possibities are multiple.not getting enough fuel pressure,flow/bad fuel filter.wires may be breaking down and jumping fire.it would not be a bad idea to take it to a good or trusted technician.they should be able to spot the problem right away since it is so prominant.i would not be surprised to find the motor mounts bad.that may be the teeth chattering exageration of the problem.expect to spend a little change on this, the rear mount if bad is a humdinger to replace.out side by the right strut tower there is a service terminal, jump te to e1 this will display codes once the key is turned on.the engine light will flash a puase inbetween the first and second digit,a longer pause to the next code or to a repeat of the code.it is good to know that when you go in if there is a code or not.

Two things I would suspect right away would be either the throttle position sensor, or the air flow meter. I would not rule out other things such as a timing belt worn out. Try this; In your intake pipe is a big Air Flow Meter, with the car sitting at idle use a medium size screw driver. Hold it by the blade, and use the other (handle) end to rap on the Mass Air Flow Meter. If the engine stops dead in its tracks, you now know what the problem is. I have seen this many times. Also check all of your vacuum hoses, and pay attention to where they plug on for a split or leak of any kind. Pay close attention to your EGR valve as this too can cause this problem if it is sticking, or has a hose loose or off.
Glad I could help you. Good Luck!!!

Take it to the dealer or a good independent Toyota/Japanese shop. Have them put it on the computer. They can quickly diagnose the problem and get it fixed without a lot of guessing and parts swapping that does no good for anyone except the guy selling the parts.
You likely have a sensor going bad. The mechanic's computer can tell him exactly which one. Most sensors are $100 - $300, installed. You have a lot of miles left in the Camry, get it fixed and enjoy it.

it could be a number of things. i have a 92 camry with the 4 cylinder. mine has done the same. all i did was change all the filters, pumps, spark plugs and wires, checked my fuel lines, and replaced the distributor cap. after this it ran great so try each thing one at a time and see if it works

sounds like your auto tranny is going to me, considering its shuddering when you switch into drive. Could be a torque converter issue.
i would go to your local toyota dealer or trusted mechanic (preferribly the latter), and get em to take a quick look at it.

This sounds like a sloppy timing belt. It is also possible it has a dirty fuel filter or fuel pump.
