When i open the removable disk from 'my computer' a small application appears in the folder. its icon is of a normal folder and its properties defines it as an application with exe type... if i double click it, it opens my documents in a new window.... WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING?

Thats the viruse use latest antivirus to clean up it r other wise format ur both usb flash disk and mp3 player..

There is a virus in your computer its a trojan type well even it creates a copy of folders with in the flash disk. It will disable folder options in your PC user profile. To remove this install norton antivirus with latest virus definition and scan the pc after the scan you wil find those file instead of trying to fix or quarantine just delete it right away. I've done it before...

Its not a software of your USB it is a virus all u have to do is clean it with any anti virus software or format the USB flash drive and check in your system also and clear if any virus is there nothing to worry its a small one.

Hey buddy, dont worry about it. It is the inbuilt software of the USB, which is required for your computer to detect your removable disk.
Wherever you use your USB, it will show that file but when you remove your disk, it ll go off.
