I don't think there is a nice way...the g/f may actually feel cheated on too...since she had no clue. This can become heated and your wife may find out from the jilted lover. Stop in your tracks and head on home buddy. As for cheating on your wife and yes cheating it's not called just having fun...find a way to get back with her and spice it up. Otherwise give an opportunity to know that her marriage is on the rocks. Hopefully she'll see that it needs repair or she'll do what you did and find love and attention from someone else. Or ah yeah fun some where else....

Not sure what you mean by "without feeling totally slack", but in this situation I don't think it matters how you feel. You did something you shouldn't have, you should be honest and deal with the consequences.

Boy what part of your intelligence got thrown in the trash? Seeking skirts when you have a Ball and Chain? If youre going to go messing with others, Why you get married in the first place? Far be it for me to judge you for who you are, but have some common sense to make the right decisions rather than mess up a beautiful thing you have with your wife.

Tell her that your married, your sorry, you made a mistake and you're committed to your marriage.
You don't need to tell her that you were "just after some fun." She can draw her own conclusions.
